Trip Report: Siena, Italy

Visited: May 2018

We had an amazing trip to Siena, Italy.  It was 10 days, end to end, with 5 days of wine education and visits to nearby wine regions.  We visited:

  • San Gimignano – home of the wonderful white wine Vernaccia
  • Montepulciano – Savored Vino di Nobile, a well-aged red
  • Chianti – a surprisingly delicate red with strict barreling and aging rules
  • Montalcino – the magnificent Brunello di Montacino

Siena was beautiful, historic and I could not get enough.  We visited the Piazza Del Campo, where the Palio races are held.  It is a hilly town and we got our exercise just walking about.  Food was incredible, both the meals in town and those we had while visiting area farms and wineries.
