Trip  Report: Great Falls

Visited August 27, 2017

Very dog friendly and so scenic. Sorry, no wine allowed, but still a great place.

Arrived 6:45 AM and waited till the gate opens at 7AM sharp. Get there other than 9:30 AM.  I saw a line of cars 50 deep waiting to get in as we drove out.  Get there early or late.  Also, you’ll get in faster with cash.  I had to wait till 7:10 when they could start the card payment machines.

Cooper, my all-terrain Corgi accompanied me.  He greeted all the visitors to our viewing spot.  Overlook #1 is best, but the others are nice, too. Folks were pleasant as we took a few hours to snap shots and do some long exposure shots. No one tried to photo-bomb us.  Kids loved playing with Cooper. It was mutual. There were several dogs carrying supplies with harness packs.  Water, snacks, etc.  Nice idea for long walks.

Dogs are allowed on all trails and bathrooms – not the visitor’s center, though.

Most of these shots used neutral density filters to lengthen the exposure.  That’s what gives these images the silky water.
